What’s A Typical Day Look Like In Long-Term Recovery?

During the day, long-term residents often travel offsite to 12 step recovery meetings and fun, engaging sober activities. Guests collaborate with staff to make plans for purchasing, preparation, and clean up of our healthy shared meals. Long-term recovery program guests also partake in meals served on our main campus and enjoy frequent trips to local restaurants.

Our live in recovery participants also attend workshops, recovery speaker meetings, and alumni events. Health club access at the Powerhouse 24-hour gym is available at no additional cost, and the men are encouraged to cultivate healthy lifestyle practices.

Volunteer activities, also known as “service work,” compose a vital part of our long-term alcohol and drug rehab alternative. Guests often report some of their most rewarding memories from service provided to organizations like Second Harvest Food Bank, The Contributor, Tennessee area drug courts and other charitable organizations.

Extracurricular activities serve to encourage men in our long-term alcohol and drug rehab alternative program to enjoy themselves without the use of substances. Long-term guests visit local movie theaters, bowling alleys, attend sporting events (Nashville Predators hockey, professional baseball games), go on canoe trips, play Airsoft, and attend Fellowship Night. Many guests enjoy the use of the small golf driving range located on our long-term recovery program property.

At night, men in the program take daily inventory at fireside wrap-up (Step 10 of the Twelve Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous). The men practice universal recovery principles such as honesty and willingness as they recount personal successes, failures and obstacles encountered during the day.

“Discovery Place was the answer for my son. He did the 90 day and then the step down program and sober living. We give this organization 10 stars. They met my son where he was ...emotionally, mentally, physically. They helped him put his life back on track. Discovery Place employees care about their guests. If your son, brother, nephew, grandson or husband needs excellent supportive care THIS is indeed the facility.”
